Break

I am taking a break from both blogging and crafting. I am not happy with anything I draw/make at the moment, so will take a break over Christmas/New Year. I will be back early next year. Hope you and yours have a fantastic Christmas.

ACEOs

Finally got to do some art work yesterday. I have been working on the dog and rose aceo for some time. I got the dog picture off the internet and the rose is from my garden. I started the swan yesterday, I took the picture of it while at the largest rocking horse. I drew them with a view to sell on Etsy, but am still not happy with them. Might put them aside for awhile and come back to them.

The rose was drawn with pencil and ink (photos taken late last night, not the best quality - sorry)

Both the swan and dog were drawn with pen and ink.

Today we are off to buy some stools to go under our new kitchen bench.

I'm back

We are now finally home and stage 1 of renovations has been finished. Below is a before and after picture of my kitchen/lounge/dining/family room. Take note of my range hood - how sexy is that curved glass??! It is almost a piece of sculpture in itself.

Before - dark and poky

After - bright, light and modern. No more 1970's kitchen.
While we were staying at the caravan, mum and I took the boys to the horse trials held in the city. Thankfully we were able to get in free (otherwise it would have been $60 to get in!!!) and had a lovely time. We sat near the water jump, handy to the playground, and watched the amazing horseflesh in action. As you can see, Elliott was more interested in making sand castles than the horse.
We also took the boys to the largest rocking horse in the world. We all managed climbed to the top - even though the last two levels were by ladder.

Needless-to-say, with all this topsy turvy going on I haven't been able to do any art/craft. Feeling seriously deprived.

On Hold

It has been awhile. This has been due to sick kids, then away for a long weekend and now restricted access to internet because of house renovations. Hopefully the house will be finished by the end of next week and then I can get back into blogging and crafting.

Ahhhhh Spring

I love spring and at the moment my garden is just bursting with new life and colour. Below are some beauties from my garden.

I did take pictures of some almost finished ACEOs I have been experimenting with, but not one of the pictures were clear enough to show here. My camera skills leave a lot to be desired.

Bad Camera!

My camera doesn't want to take pictures at the moment - it's on a 'go slow'! I have been busy crafting - made some more magnets and have also started doing some Christmas stuff. I will list the magnets on Etsy as soon as my camera decides to cooperate. On a family note, my youngest started kindy. Today is the first day without him - weird feeling, however food shopping was a breeze.

Ahhhh Spring

Today was an absolutely beautiful spring day, with not a cloud to be seen. After spending the morning doing gardening, I took the boys and Lucy the dog to the dog beach, about 25 minutes away from us. We all had a wonderful time. The boys and Lucy went paddling, while I stayed safely on the shore - with nothing between the Antarctic and us, the water was far too cold for me.

Morning Tea

Today the boys and I made morning tea for a elderly friend who hasn't been very well lately. We made chocolate cupcakes and mini berry cheesecakes. The boys had great fun icing and putting the sprinkles on. I also got out my treasured Wedgwood cups and saucers and used the three tiered cake stand Chris bought me for my birthday. Felt quite posh with all my 'good stuff' out!

I have almost finished another black and white aceo and a larger black and white drawing. Hope to list them on Etsy very soon.

Button Mania

Last night after the kiddies were in bed, I decided to paint some buttons. I wanted to try and make them more individual, make them mine. I tried different types of paint: acyrlics, puff/3D and ink, with puff paint coming out the best. I'm sure they will feature in up coming work :-)

I also made a sympathy card for a work collegue who recently lost his wife. The boys overheard me talking about this last night and a discussion occured about dying and going to heaven. Oliver, aged 4, asked Elliott, aged 5, 'how do you get to heaven'? Elliott replied 'God picks you up and carries you in his arms'!

Blog Number 1

G’day and welcome to my new blog.
At the beginning of the year, I set myself three goals:

1: To compete and finish a fun run. On 18th September I ran the City to Bay and finished it. I was sore and sorry for myself the next day, but also pretty chuffed that I did it.

2: To finally enter one of my drawings into the Royal Adelaide Show, instead of always saying 'next year I’ll do it'. Come show-time I did, didn’t place anywhere, but at least I can finally say I did it.

3: To make a business of my art and craft. Hence Etsy and now this blog.

Please bear with me while I work out this blogging thingy!! I have no idea what I’m doing yet, but I’m sure I’ll get there.

Vegemite the Cat - keeping me company while I work out how to blog!
